This report documents the relative abundance, species composition, and local distribution of sea birds during April 1989 and April 1990. During 1989 the study included the coast of Kenai Fjords from Bear Glacier to Yalik Point, as well as the Pye Islands and Chiswell Islands. The 1990 study included Harris Bay and McCarty Fjord and two island groups (Chiswell and Pye). The study was undertaken to provide a basis for determining the effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill on sea birds. Sixty species of birds were identified and over 25,000 birds counted in the survey units. A sea bird species list is provided.
