Bibliography, synthesis, and modeling of Naknek River aquatic system information

Buck EH, Bowden C, Baldridge J, Wilson W. 1978. Bibliography, synthesis, and modeling of Naknek River aquatic system information. Arctic Environmental Information and Data Center. University of Alaska. Anchorage, AK

This 1978 report assembles information on the Naknek River drainage and responds to certain questions dealing with the effects of manipulations of the aquatic system. It is divided into several sections, including a 53-page annotated bibliography with keywords and a 100-page narrative that summarizes the existing knowledge of the Naknek River aquatic environments. The latter includes physical and chemical characteristics, primary productivity, aquatic invertebrates, and distribution and life histories of individual species of fish. Based on this synthesis, word and graphic models composed of several components were constructed to analyze the structure and process of the ecosystem. A variety of management options for aquatic resources and possible effects of management decisions are evaluated. Gaps in knowledge are identified in an effort to focus future research.
