Biochemical, Hematological, and Pathological Observations of Black Bears in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Selected tissues and liquids from 290 bears were analyzed for pathologies, 24 biochemical parameters, and canine distemper virus. Antibody titers were calculated. Over 80 percent of the samples were positive for microfilariae. The bear population in GRSM was pronounced to be in good condition.
