Bird community metrics were significantly correlated with landscape patchiness; abundance of habitat generalists, body-size structure, and Neotropical migrant-nonmigrant composition versus landscape patchiness; patchiness within different landscape extents was important in structuring bird communities; association with large-scale conditions in Neottropical migrants versus nonmigrants; patchiness of most major land-cover types affected bird richness, abundancce, or occurrence; species-specific habitat affinities versus assemblage-wide patterns; community-wide determinants may be system-specific; landscape patchiness is likely to be only one of many influential factors; causal links between landscape patchiness and bird community structure.
