This study was undertaken to examine the status of biological and water quality resources in the anchialine pools, fishponds and nearshore marine waters of the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historcal Park (KAHO) over a 3-yr period. Biological surveys and water quality monitoring were carried out in anchialine pools, fishponds, and at marine sites at Kaloko-Honokohau NHP. Water quality was found to be typical of the West Hawaii coast, but biology was found to be degraded, primarily by the spread of alien fish such as guppies. The study recommends that an active management program be initiated. Includes maps of pool locations & tables of water quality data.
