The government of American Samoa is proposing to upgrade the road on Ta`u Island in the Manu`a group. This road project follows the coastline, and the Dept. of Marine and Wildlife Resources is concerned with the effects of the project on the adjacent coral reef resources. The objectives of this study were to provide a biological assessment of the coral reefs and to collect quantitative baseline data for coral reefs adjacent to the proposed development, to provide the basis for monitoring the effects of the road development on these resources.
