Rock-fall hazard assessment of the Aspen Forest Trail, Navajo National Monument, Arizona
Wieczorek GF and Harp EL. 2000. Rock-fall hazard assessment of the Aspen Forest Trail, Navajo National Monument, Arizona. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Open-File Report. 00-305
At the request of Navajo National Monument, the US Geological Survey examined the stability of a section of the Aspen Forest Trail to Betatakin Ruins. The report contains illustrations of methods used, including plots of planar and wedge failures. The conclusion indicates a relatively high susceptibility of this section to rockfall, and the chief recommendation for visitor protection is a covered catwalk.
