(Adapted from Author's Abstract) Baseline fisheries investigations were conducted during the summer and fall of 1987 on the Charley and Kandik Rivers within the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve to describe relative abundance, distribution and habitat use by anadromous and resident fish species, spawning areas and run timing for chinook, coho, and chum salmon, and aquatic macroinvertebrate density, diversity and composition. fish and macroinvertebrates were collected and physio-chemical parameters were measured at selected sites. Gill netting, minnow trapping, seining, electrofishing, and angling were all used to collect fish samples. Chinook salmon, Arctic grayling, longnose sucker, slimy sculpin, burbot, and least cisco were collected in the Kandik River, and chinook salmon, Arctic grayling, longnose sucker, and slimy sculpin were found in the Charley River.
