Rare Plants of Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

The objectives of this project are: 1) to produce a list of category 2 plant taxa for Bryce Canyon National Park, 2) to locate category 2 plant taxa that are currently listed in the Federal Register, 3) to determine the distribution and abundance of category 2 plant taxa with emphasis on areas with high potential for human impact, 4) to characterize habitat parameters of category 2 plant taxa, and 5) to develop a long-term monitoring program for category 2 plant populations. Currently there are five Bryce Canyon taxa listed in the Federal Register as category 2 plants. At the inception of this study an additional species was listed in category 2 (Federal Register 1990) but has since been downgraded to category 3c (Federal Register 1993). Category 2 taxa include those for which there is some evidence of vulnerability, but for which there is not enough data to support listing proposals (i.e., to be listed as a category 1 taxon.)
