Preliminary report of 1976 Awlinyak Peaks expedition

George TL and Lyon J. 1976. Preliminary report of 1976 Awlinyak Peaks expedition

During July 28 - August 23, 1976, field work was conducted to supplement a land use and natural inventory analysis of the Endicott Mountains in the proposed Gates of the Arctic National Park. The continental divide between Circle Lake on the Alatna River to Nutuvukti Lake was traversed (distance 80 miles) . Field inventories concentrated on vegetation classifications based on familiarity with alpine tundar, river, and boreal forest ecosystems. This preliminary report functions as a description of a cursorily explored area, and is intended to augment ongoing planning and research in the Endicott Mountains.
