This 1974 report presents the findings of an intense interdisciplinary biological survey of the Noatak River basin conducted for the U.S. National Park Service. The study's purpose was to develop an integrated picture of the region's total environment, as well as investigate various biological aspects of the area. Twelve investigators participated in the survey, whose field season lasted from 13 June to 24 August 1973 and was comprised of approximately 700-person days. The report presents an overview of the basin's environment and details the individual research activities that were conducted. Results are summarized from information obtained as of 1 January 1974, with further results anticipated at a later date. Chapters include vegetation, soils, limnology, mammals, birds, entomology, floristics, and archeology, each giving a literature-cited section. Appendices also give soil profiles, temperature data, weather observations, and a list of bryophytes collected.
