During the summer of 1986 a field crew from the University of Washington, in cooperation with Gates of the Arctic NP&P, recorded bathymetric information from a number of lakes in the Central Brooks Range. This report: 1) outlines the field methods used for data collection, 2) discusses the techniques used in reducing the data to bathymetric maps, 3) describes the bathymetry of the accompanying lake maps, and 4) provides a brief vegetational history of the park. The lakes included in this report are Chandler Lake and Amiloyak Lake located in the Chandler River drainage on the north side of the continental divide, and Agiak Lake, a few kilometers south of Amiloyak Lake, on the south side of the divide near the headwaters of the Hunt fork of the John River. Included in the Kobuk River drainage are Lake Selby, Narvak Lake, Lake Minakokosa, Nutuvukti Lake, and Walker Lake. Iniakuk Lake lies about 50km east of Walker Lake in the drainage of the Alatna River. [source: printed copy of report]
