This provides a general description of a mite new to science found in potholes in southeastern Utah, on the Colorado Plateau. The authors searched similar habitats in surrounding locations, but so far haven't found the mite anywhere else. It might be grouped with two known species of oribatid mites, one known only from pools on granite near a mountain summit in southwestern Australia, and the other from vegetated pools on sandstone in mountains of Orange Free State, South Africa. The article discusses distribution and habitat, activity and feeding, dry periods, and comparisons with other species. It includes 10 references.
