Erigeron kachinensis is a rare endemic of the Colorado Plateau in southeastern Utah. It grows in isolated populations in seeps and alcoves along sandstone canyon walls. The sites of six populations in Natural Bridges National Monument were analyzed with respect to geology, vegetation, soils, and physical properties. The sites were salty, phosphorus-rich, perenially moist, and shady. The most commmon associated plant species were Aquilegia micrantha, Calamagrostis scopulorum, and Zigadenus vaginatus. These and Erigeron kachinensis accounted for more than 75 percent of living cover in the alcove sites. A site analysis model was developed with the findings, and the kachina daisy was successfully introduced to a site identified with the model.
