This book on the birds and mammals of Mt. McKinley National Park was based on a detailed survey instituted by the U.S. National Park Service and the University of California. Fieldwork was conducted in 1926 and again in 1932. This work builds on and follows up on studies conducted by Charles Sheldon and O.J. Murie. At the end of these expeditions the known list of mammals was brought up to 34 species and the bird list to 107 species. A checklist and species description for the birds and mammals is included. Information is provided on the animals' general appearance, identification characteristics, distribution, and habits.
