Whistler WA. 1995. Permanent forest plot data from the National Park of American Samoa. Cooperative National Park Resources Studies Unit Technical Report Series. CPSU Technical Report 98. Cooperative National Park Resources Study Unit, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Honolulu, HI

This study, carried out in 1993, established three permanent study plots on Tau and five plots on Tutuila in areas of secondary and primary forest, that could be sampled at a later date to determine vegetational and successional changes and trends over time. Areas of homogeneous and apparently representative forest were located and plots of 1000 sq. meters were established. 414 trees were tagged during the survey, belonging to 49 species. Plant lists were compiled.
