The insects of Mesa Verde National Park area are a mix of Rocky Mountain, Colorado Plateau and some Great Basin species. It has been estimated that a total of 14,000 to 26,000 insects alone occur within these ecoregions. Additionally, there have been numerous introductions of exotic species. The objectives of this study were to 1) conduct an invertebrate inventory of proposed Colorado Natural Area, Park Mesa; 2) discover rare or threatened species of invertebrates of Park Mesa; and 3) provide a management plan for preserving these species of invertebrates. The appendix is an inventory of arthropod species recorded to date - revised January 2000.
