_Hygrocybe andersonii_ , a new species always found in association with _Ceratiola ericoides_ on barrier islands and mainland sand dunes, is described. This _Hygrocybe_ is distinguished from other Hygrocybes by it densely cepitose method of growth, its occurance in sand in the vicinity of _Ceratiola ericoides_ , large bacilliform spores, and the presence of colorless, blue-flourescing compounds on chromatagrams prepered from pigment extracts. In addition, these chromatograms exhibit a complex of yellow to orange pigments of Rf 0.14 to 0.25 that replace rhodohygrocybin as found in most other Hygrocybes.
