Birds of the Kalapana Extension

Reports presence of 26 bird species in the Kalapana Extension, including an endemic subspecies of the Pueo (Asio flammeus sandwichensis). Also found were the Nene and the Io. The Japanese White-eye (Zosterops japonicus) is reported as being the most abundant bird in the area. Gives management recommendations. Species accounts include predation information. Tables give densities of species in various vegetation types. Includes distribution maps.
