A report from The Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council’s Brazilian Pepper Task Force. As part of this management plan for non-native Brazilian pepper, the report includes case studies in south Florida. Short sections describe control work in Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades National Park, and Biscayne National Park, along with several other state or federal areas. The section on Big Cypress describes characteristics of the plant that make it 'one of the most problematic exotic species in the Preserve.' Mechanical removal and restoration of pre-disturbance water cycles and levels are effective control measures; herbicides have been used as well. Control efforts began in the preserve in 1974.
