During the summer of 1984, the senior author made more than 200 collections of bryophites in diverse habitats and geographic sites in the South Unit of THRO, Medora, Billings County, ND. These are deposited in the herbarium of that park and a nearly complete set is also in the herbarium of the University of Helsinki (H). Despite the arid climate and very high summer temperatures of that area, a rather large variety of bryophytes was obtained. Of especial interest are several plants of western North America which are disjunct or at the edges of their ranges in this area of the Great Plains. List of bryophytes follows article.
