This is a collection of articles pertaining to Yellowstone National Park written by various authorities especially for this Manual. the first edition (1926) was published in typewritten form, of which there were 12 copies. the second edition (1927), which is Volume I, numbered 125 copies, and was prepared at the St. Paul Office of the Haynes Picture Shops, Inc., entirely at their expense. the second edition contained all the material used in the first edition, but in a revised form, and in addition there were many other aticles. This is the third edition, volume II, and there are 125 copies. It was prepared at the Superintendent's Office in Yellowstone National Park. All illustrations are the work of former Park Naturalist Edmund J. Sawyer. It is hoped that the material found in this volume, in addition to that contained in Volume I, will be of real value to those assigned to lecturing, guiding, information and museum duty, in avoiding conflicting statements and too much repetition; also in getting efficient service under way at the beginning of the season. This compilation, like Volume I, is the result of a great amount of research and work of many of the staunch friends of the Yellowstone, including present and former members of the staff. Your cooperation is solicited in contributing one or more articles for the amplification of this collection, and in suggesting improvements, which will be greatly appreciated. - Horace M. Albright.
