A 300m transect was tested for percent cover by various perennials, the most visible being Disticlis spicata, Suaeda, Haplopappus vinetis, Atriplex polycarpa, Hilarici, Ambrosia dumosa, and Larrea tridentata. Also tested were several physical factors (mainly soil conditions): slope, aspect, salinity, pH, water potential, surface temperature, soil temperature at 10 cm depth, surface reflectivity, percent rock, percent sand, percent silt and percent organic matter. Cover of bare ground was also tested. Larrea correlated with salinity, temperature, and reflectivity. Suaeda correlated with salinity. Several physical factors correlated with each other.
