The author studied captive Dipodomys merriami to determine whether females ate more green vegetation than males during reproductively active periods. The animals were fed both green vegetation and seeds. In this study, males and females incorporated relatively equal amounts of green vegetation into their diets. The animals used in the study were captured in the Granite Mountains Reserve.
