The author used thermal mannequins to measure operative temperatures in Merriam’s kangaroo rats (Dipodomys merriami). The microhabitats used were in full sunlight, in partial shade, and in a burrow. The temperatures were measured every half hour. The microhabitat most suitable was the burrow.
