This report summarizes the initial findings of a field observation-sampling study to characterize the substrate modifications due to Hurricane Andrew in the coastal, wetland, and shallow subtidal areas of western Everglades National Park from Cape Sable to the Chatham River. The analyses performed on core samples include substrate constituent composition, textural analysis, X-ray diffractometry, grain size analysis, and organic percentage analysis. Tables present data on textural and compositional characteristics of the storm layers. Maps and photographs also present data.
