The Forest Service (FS) and the Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), propose to reestablish road access previously provided by Forest Service Road (RSR) 2610 to FS and NPS recreational facilities. Initially, the proposed action was to rebuild FSR 2610 through the washout area with a low-water crossing, which was formerly Alternative E. However, Alternative E was dropped from further consideration and now the proposed action is Alternative B. FSR 2610 would be rerouted along the hillslope above and to the north of the washout to restore access for passenger cars, recreational vehicles, and vehicles pulling trailers. Approximately 0.84 mile of single lane road with turnouts would be constructed using standard construction methods. The NPS and WFLHD propose to repair damage to the park's Dosewallips Road in the viciinity of the Dosewallips River Falls. This Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) considers four alternatives in detail, including the No Action alternative.
