In the summer of 1950, The Texas Game and Fish Commission began an extensivelong-term ecological sludy of the Laguna Madre of Texas, a 130-mile-long hypersalinebay on the South Texas coast. One of the three areas of study was the Baffin-Alazan Bayarea (Figures 1 and 2). Field work in this area was started in June of 1951 and wascontinued until May of 1953. This paper is a portion of a final report to the Texas Gameand Fish Commission on this study.
