The expansion of the invasive spiny water flea (Bythotrephes longimanus) from Great Lakes coastal waters into inland lakes within a latitudinal band (Minnesota to Ontario) is discussed. Visitation frequency, fishing boat access, preventative measures, and coastal warming appear to be important variables influencing dispersal.
