This document describes the first NPS underwater survey of a prehistoric archeological site at Montezuma Well in October 1968. Author Fischer was a research archeologist and chief of the database and programs section of the National Park Service Southeast Archaeological Center in Florida. Divers collected approximately 700 cultural items, mostly pottery, and the collection was typical of a late Verde Valley Sinagua site. Observations on the Well's geology explained the evolution of the bottom profile at the time of the investigation.
