Estuarine and Nearshore Marine Sediment Quality Measurements in Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve (2008)

National Park Service, Southeast Coast Network I & M Program. 2008. Estuarine and Nearshore Marine Sediment Quality Measurements in Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve (2008)

This dataset represents sediment quality measurements that were taken in Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve during 2008 as a part of the marine water and sediment quality assessment protocol that was developed by the Southeast Coast I&M Network (SECN). The protocol is modeled after the EPA's National Coastal Assessment Program (www.epa.gov/emap/nca) and it consists of conducting sediment sampling every 10 years based on a probabilistic sampling design that was also designed by the EPA. Thirty sites were selected within the Nassau River, Pumpkin Hill Creek, Intracoastal Waterway (Sisters Creek), Cedar Point Creek, Clapboard Creek, Pablo Creek, and St. Johns River at which sediments were sampled using a Van Veen sampler and composited for analysis as described in the National Coastal Assessment Quality Assurance Project Plan (www.epa.gov/emap/nca/html/docs/qaprojplan.html). The final analyses of the sediment samples were conducted by GPL Laboratories, LLC (now Centauri Labs); please refer to their website (www.centaurilabs.com) or the documents listed in the Cross Reference section for more information about the analytical process. Please note that each sampling location contains multiple sediment parameters that are recorded individually.
