Pre-operational assessment of vegetation in the Turkey Creek Unit, Big Thicket National Preserve, Hardin and Tyler counties, Texas
Dixie Environmental Services Co., LP. 2007. Pre-operational assessment of vegetation in the Turkey Creek Unit, Big Thicket National Preserve, Hardin and Tyler counties, Texas
Seismic Assistants Ltd. (SAL) has proposed a three dimensional seismic survey, entitled Knight Phase IV 3-D, within the Turkey Creek (TCU), Village Creek Corridor (VCCU), and Big Sandy Creek Corridor Units (BSCCU) of the Big Thicket National Preserve (BTNP or Preserve), as well as other lands administered by the BTNP. To meet National Park Service (NPS) regulatory requirements and support environmental impact analysis, existing vegetation was sampled and mapped within the TCU according to U.S. Geological Survey/National Park Service National Vegetation Mapping Program guidelines. Portions of the VCCU, BSCCU, and other lands administered by the BTNP located within the Knight Phase IV project area were not included in the scope of the vegetation mapping and assessment effort, as they are smaller in size than the TCU, and proposed seismic operations within these areas would be limited. This vegetation analysis characterizes the existing vegetation occurring within the Turkey Creek Unit of the Big Thicket National Preserve.
