Delineation of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats: Coastal Watershed Restoration Program Glenbrook Creek Crossing Restoration Project, Marin County, California

Brief Description: A report describing a study done to map and describe areas within the Delineation Study Area which incorporates portions of Glenbrook Creek upstrea and downstream of the road crossing. Full Description: This report describes the methods and results of a delineation of the waters of the Unites States, Including special aquatic sites such as wetlands, for the Coastal Watershed Restoration Program – Glenbrook Creek Crossing Restoration Project (Project). This Coastal Watershed Program has been developed by Point Reyes National Seashore (Seashore), a unit of the National Park Service (Park Service), in efforts to restore natural hydrologic and ecological functions in areas where these functions have been negatively affected by existing infrastructure such as dams, culverts, roads, etc. this particular Project would involve removal of the road crossing and culvert constructed in 1963 on Muddy Hollow Road. The Project Area is located generally in the southwestern portion of the Seashore in the Phillip Burton Wilderness Area. Muddy Hollow Road is the historic route from Bolinas to the Point Reyes Lighthouse. The historic road trace is still depicted on U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) maps. The goal of this study was to map and describe areas within the Delineation Study Area potentially subject to Park Service Director’s Order #77-1, some of which may also be subject to oversight by the California Coastal Commission under the federal Coastal Zone Management Act. The Delineation Study Area incorporates the Project Area or the portions of Glenbrook Creek upstream and downstream of the road crossing. It also includes the portion of the Muddy Hollow Trail that would be used for construction access and potential stockpiling and the road rehabilitation area where sediment excavated from the road crossing would be places. Most of the construction access road from Home Ranch to the Project Area was previously delineated as part of the Glenbrook Dam Removal Project. This delineation covers the portion of the construction access road running from the junction of the Muddy Hollow and Glenbrook trails to the Project Area.
