Dingwall PR and Rao K. 2010. Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park (Canada and USA) Report of the Reactive Monitoring Mission, 20 to 27 September 2009. UNESCO/IUCN
A joint UNESCO/IUCN monitoring mission in Sept 2009 to assess the state of conservation and potential threats due to energy development in the Canadian portion of the ecosystem. The mission was in part a response to requests that the World Heritage Committee inscribe the property on the List of World Heritage in danger. This document reports those findings. A review of the state of conservation and an assessment of current threats to Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park World Heritage Site, as conducted by a joint UNESCO/IUCN team. Threats assessed included energy development activities, barriers to wildlife migration, forest management practices in the BC Flathead, and climate change impacts. Conclusions and recommendations are included.
