Brief Description: Habitat modeling of Whitebark Pine within Glacier NP based on Ecodata sample plot data from 1995-97 by Kendall et al. Full Description: A multivariate GIS analysis was developed in an effort to appropriately reintroduce fire into whitebark pine communities within Glacier National Park. Whitebark pine habitat types were modeled with emphasis on dominant seral types that could support regeneration. Potential habitat was identified according to contiguous area, time since last fire, probability of occurence, and relativeaccessibility. Approximately 87,500 acres were identified as seral whitebark pine habitat, most of which occurs on the park's east side.
