The Deer Park Fire burned approximately 245 acres of subalpine and montane forest south of the Deer Park Ranger Station between September 11 and 16, 1988. Elevation of the burned area ranges between 3700 feet to 5300 feet. Approximately 16,000 feet of fire line was constructed. The fire burned mainly in montane Douglas-fir or Doglas-fir/hemlock forests although some subalpine fir/lodgepole pine was burned near the campground and Ranger Station. A few old-growth Douglas-fir (ca 388 hears old) burned near the lower reaches of the fire but most trees were established following a fire about 96 years ago. ... Damage to natural resources occurred due to fire line construction and fire fighter activities in the Deer Park Campground and vicinity. ... Non-natural resource problems occurred in several areas. ... Report concludes with restoration progress.
