Fuel Model Polygons, Catoctin Mountain Park, February 2005 (CATO_Fuels.shp)

National Capital Region. 2005. Fuel Model Polygons, Catoctin Mountain Park, February 2005 (CATO_Fuels.shp)

This polygon dataset depicts Fuel Models for Estimating Fire Behavior in Catoctin Mountain Park. This layer was generated by "crosswalking" the park vegetation map. In addition, changes in the fuel model polygons were also made based on other existing GIS layers. These include a storm damage area layer, exotic plant treatment areas layer, roads layer, Gypsy Moth Defoliation layer, fields layer and the 2000 Frederick County Color digital orthophotographs. The Fuels map was ground truthed by Douglas Raeburn, of Raeburn Environmental Services (Luray, Virginia). This map reflects ground conditions on February 22-23, 2005.
