Fuel Model Polygons, George Washington Memorial Parkway 2006
National Capital Region. 2006. Fuel Model Polygons, George Washington Memorial Parkway 2006
This polygon dataset depicts Fuel Models for Estimating Fire Behavior within the administrative boundaries of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. This layer was generated by "crosswalking" various park vegetation and land cover maps. In addition, changes in the fuel model polygons were also made based on other existing GIS layers. These include exotic plant treatment areas and the USGS High Resolution Orthoimagery for the Washington DC Urban Area (2002). The Fuels map was ground truthed by Douglas Raeburn, of Raeburn Environmental Services (Luray, Virginia) in the following locations: Great Falls Park, Turkey Run Park, Theodore Roosevelt Island and Fort Hunt Park. ***Except for the locations noted, this dataset has NOT been field verified, and should only be used for general reference*** This map reflects ground conditions for the ground truthed areas between March 8th and 16th, 2006.
