Fuel Model Polygons, Prince William Forest Park, February 2005 (PRWI_Fuels.shp)

National Capital Region. 2005. Fuel Model Polygons, Prince William Forest Park, February 2005 (PRWI_Fuels.shp)

This polygon dataset depicts Fuel Models for Estimating Fire Behavior in Prince William Forest Park. This layer was generated by "crosswalking" the park vegetation map. In addition, changes in the fuel model polygons were also made based on other existing GIS layers. These include the park streams layer, exotic plant treatment areas layer, roads layer, Gypsy Moth Defoliation layer and the 2000 VARGIS and 2002 Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP) Orthophotography. The Fuels map was ground truthed by Douglas Raeburn, of Raeburn Environmental Services (Luray, Virginia). This map reflects ground conditions on February 7-9, 2005.
