Brief Description: Final Report Full Description: The objective of this study is to characterize the biogeochemical environments of reattachment-bar return current channels within recirculation zones along the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam. In confined, debris-fan dominated rivers, return current channels (RCCs) provide backwater habitat for several endangered species. To understand how different flow regimes affect biogeochemical cycling along the Colorado River, we examined ground-water compositions collected from 62 PVC wells at depths of 3 and 6 meters within four reattachment bars at different flow rates and during rising and falling flows.
