The Yellowstone fires: an assessment of economic impacts

Briceland RH. 1990. The Yellowstone fires: an assessment of economic impacts. Yellowstone National Park and the greater Yellowstone area

A review of the economic effects of the Yellowstone fires of 1988 in the greater Yellowstone region and the three-state Idaho-Montana-Wyoming area. Fire expenditure data from federal, state, and local government agencies and from individual businesses and community groups were reviewed to determine the econimic effects of the Yellowstone fires of 1988. It appears that a loss of tourism revenues associated with the Yellowstone fires were offset by revenue increases related to fire-suppression expenditures in the greater Yellowstone area.
