Observations of ants at Point Reyes National Seashore

Shors J. 2006. Re: Observations of ants at Point Reyes National Seashore

This letter describes the author's trip to Point Reyes National Seashore and the various native and invasive ant species encountered there. On Wednesday, December 14, 2005 I spent some time at Point Reyes National Seashore to get an idea as to whether and where native ants and the invasive Argentine ants Linepithema humile occur at Point Reyes. I searched various spots in the northern section of Point Reyes and the town of Inverness. I found three native ant species of the genus Formica, Camponotus, and Aphaenogaster in the northern section of Point Reyes, and I found Argentine ants in the town of Inverness.
