This animal is only about three inches long. It's found nowhere else in the world but ShenandoahNational Park, Not only is it restricted to the Park, but it's restricted to only three talus slopes on northwest facing mountains; three of the highest mountains in the Park, Hawksbill, which is the highest, and Stony Man and The Pinnacles. In all three of these mountains, the entire range of the salamander is no larger than about seven-tenths or three-quarters of a mile in diameter.
