Thirty-eight species of amphibians and reptiles are present on three elevational transects in the White Inyo Range, on the southern transect, which runs from the Saline Valley up the east side of the Iyo Mountains, 29 species are present. A second transect starts at Owens River near Big Pine and continues through Westgard Pass to the summit of Black Mountain, and has 32 species. The third transect is located between Queen Valley and Boundary Peak, and has 21 speices. The majority of the species are wide ranging desert adapted forms that occur only on the lower slope of the White-Inyo Range. No species are confirmed from the Subalpine Forest or Alpine Tundra Zones.
