The Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields Memorial

Kappel R. 1955. The Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields Memorial

The Rappahannock River, following the pattern of Virginia's eastern streams, flows into the Chesapeake Bay, an area of the Atlantic Ocean. A hundred miles northwest of the river mouth, at the head of navigation, Fredericksburg straddles the area of the farthest tides, with falls at one end of the town and deep water at the other.
