The environmental variables affecting the population density of mole crabs (Emerita talpoida)along the barrier island coast of Maryland were examined. Physical (water and sand temperature, beach slope, sand grain size) and human impact (vehicular and pedestrian traffic and beach replenishment) parameters were measured and/or observed for twenty three months.
