A revised sampling design for vegetation inventory and monitoring at Shenandoah National Park
Diefenbach DR and Vreeland JK. 2003. A revised sampling design for vegetation inventory and monitoring at Shenandoah National Park. National Park Service, Northeast Region, Natural Resource Stewardship and Science, Philadelphia, PA
The goal of this project was to develop a sampling design that addressed many of the recommendations provided in a prior evaluation of the vegetation monitoring program atShenandoah National Park (SNP; Diefenbach and Mahan 2002). The objectives for this project were to: (1) modify Long Term Ecological Monitoring System (LTEMS) objectives, if necessary, to incorporate information obtained from the work conducted by Diefenbach and Mahan (2002), (2) develop a sampling design to meet LTEMS objectives, and (3) provide a detailed documentation of this sampling design to ensure consistency in the vegetation sampling over the long term.
