Three large mammalian herbivores, the feral pony (Equus caballus), white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginanus), and sika deer (Cervus nippon) inhabit Assateague Island National Seashore (AINS). Of this group of herbivores, the white-tailed deer is the only native species. Large mammalian herbivores interact~ information about the interaction among feral ponies, sika deer and white-tailed deer is lacking for AINS.
