Glendale and Malvern Hill Civil War Battlefields lie in Henrico County five miles southeastof Richmond. The management group, The Association for the Preservation of Civil WarSites, Inc., (APCWS) express long term goals to include the establishment of landscapemanagement policies that allow for good stewardship of the land and which preserve existingcultural, historic, and natural resources. Other objectives include appropriate forest standmanagement techniques, managing timber for income, protecting rare and/or unique naturalareas, maintaining a scenic forest and conserving soil and water resources. To achieve thesegoals, the consulting firm of North American Resource Management, Inc. was asked toprepare a Forest Stewardship Plan. This report presents the result of the inventory and planproposals developed as the Landscape Management Plan, prepared for APCWS by WestMain Design Collaborative and North American Resource Management, Inc. in June, 1995.The information in this report was taken during recent on-site visits to the property. It isdesigned to be flexible - to be modified and improved as the owners' desires are refined andsupplementary inventory data are made available.
