Pursuant to my letters dated March 17 and May 9, 1997,the National Park Service advised American Exploration Company that its $200,000.00 letter of credit would expire on May 31, 1997, and that it would take action to forfeit the current security if a renewal was not received by May 16, 1997. As of close of business on May 23, 1997, Padre Island National Seashore has not received a replacement Letter of Credit or other acceptable type of security pursuant to 36 CFR§9.48.
